A dynamic, grounded, and heartfelt P-pop girl group called VVink was launched with their debut single, "Tulala," during a special show at Club Hype in Quezon City recently.
Spelled with its two Vs, VVink stands for second chances and double victories. The mirrored Vs form a W, celebrating success that comes from hard work and personal growth. This symbol embodies the connection between our past experiences and our bright future, encouraging us to appreciate our journey while moving forward with confidence.
VVink is a collective of five artists who have overcome challenges with passion and determination. The group is led by Angelika, who serves as the leader. Jean is the main vocalist, Ayaka takes on the role of the main rapper, Oori is the principal dancer, and Mariel contributes as a versatile all-around performer.
"You may not know it, but these girls came from talent competitions. They are konteseras (contestants) na sinubaybayan namin. Unfortunately, they never had the chance to become winners, so we're giving them another chance," said Gelli De Leon, CEO of FlipRecords, during an interview at the group's launch recently.
Jumbo "BoJam" De Belen, producer, said the girls started as solo acts before joining the group.
Asked about the possibility of being compared with the other group, Gelli said: "We admire them and we aspire to be like the others. Sana huwag na silang ma-compare at bigyan sila ng fair chance because Filipino naman tayong lahat. (I hope they won't be compared and given a fair chance because we are all Filipinos.)"
Gelli expressed the company's aspiration to form a P-pop girl group, stating that they believe this is the right time to pursue their dreams.
"We're storytellers. I think it's not about being a girl or boy group but finding the right people at the right time. So I guess this is the right time to push our dreams," she added.
VVink debuts in the music scene with the song "Tulala," a dreamy, upbeat track about that dazed feeling of first love.
"The group's debut era sets the tone for a bold rollout of music through 2026 with six more songs waiting to be released," said BoJam. "Their pre-debut album will also introduce two solo tracks each."
Geli added: "VVink isn't confined to one concept. They're soft and strong, playful and powerful - a group of individuals with one goal, which is to connect through honest music."
