The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) will be conducting a comprehensive review of all the fire prevention program across the country to enhance the measures in protecting communities.
In a statement, the BFP said the move is part of its “Oplan Ligtas na Pamayanan’’ program that is aimed at identifying the strengths, address challenges and enhance strategies to build safer, more fire-resilient communities.
As part of its fire prevention program enhancement, the BFP also convened consultative meeting with key stakeholders to discuss the proposed amendment to Division 11, Section 10.2.11.1, Paragraph B of the Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations (RIRR) of Republic Act 9514 or the Fire Code of the Philippines.
The BFP stressed that the proposed amendment focuses on alternative fire safety compliance measures for hospitals in place of the construction and installation of ramps, aiming to enhance safety without compromising structural integrity and operational efficiency.
Further, the BFP emphasized the importance of stakeholder collaboration in refining fire safety policies that align with both public safety and hospital infrastructure requirements.
“The discussion is expected to lead to improved fire safety protocols while ensuring efficient patient mobility and emergency response within healthcare facilities. Further deliberations and technical evaluations will be conducted before finalizing the amendments for approval and implementation,’’ the BFP said.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Health (DOH), and other key stakeholders, who provided insights and recommendations on the proposed revisions.
