An e-trike driver who snatched the cellular phone of a US tourist was arrested by members of the Pasay City Police Substation 7 five hours after the incident on June 14.
Col. Joselito de Sesto, Pasay City Police chief, said the suspect identified as “Dagul,” 33, was arrested in Maricaban, Pasay City, while his accomplice, alias “Jun-Jun,” remains at large.
De Sesto said that a 52-year-old US tourist claimed that he was with his son walking along Lawaan St., Maricaban, Pasay City, when two unidentified men approached them and snatched his Samsung Galaxy, amounting to P11,200. The suspect immediately fled in an unknown direction.
He said the victim immediately sought assistance from members of the Maricaban Substation and, acting on the report, coordinated with Barangay 182 officials to access CCTV footage.
The city police chief said a follow-up operation was made, leading to the arrest of Dagul.
The suspect was turned over to the Investigation and Detective Management Section (IDMS) after his arrest and detained at the police custodial facility.
