A 28-year-old man was arrested on Friday morning, June 13, for alleged robbery inside a cellphone shop on Blumentritt Road in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
The suspect, identified as Melvin Tafalla, a resident of Sitio Limok, Barangay Balawang, Paniqui, Tarlac, was apprehended at around 7:45 a.m. by patrolling officers from Sta. Cruz Police Station (PS-3) of the Manila Police District.
According to the initial police investigation, Tafalla was caught after allegedly snatching the cellphone of John Joey Gregorio, 32, branch manager of Four R Cellshop & Trading Corporation.
Gregorio immediately reported the incident to police officers who were conducting beat patrol in the area.
Authorities quickly responded, leading to Tafalla’s arrest.
Recovered from the suspect was a black unit of Huawei Nova 11i, valued at P5,500, which was stolen from the victim.
Police brought the suspect to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center for a medical check-up before taking him to the police station for further investigation.
He will be charged with robbery under Article 293 of the Revised Penal Code.
