A ride-hailing app driver escaped a robbery attempt in Tondo, Manila, on Tuesday, June 10, after calling for help from patrolling police officers.
The incident occurred at around 2:10 a.m. along Honorio Lopez Boulevard (southbound lane) in Barangay 129, Tondo.
As they neared Honorio Lopez Boulevard, the passengers identified as Ronnie Listana, 34, and Fredie Boy Molera, 22, allegedly declared a hold-up and forcibly took P500 from the victim's pants' pocket while he was driving.
The victim stated that he spotted a group of police officers conducting a routine patrol in the area.
Responding officers rushed to the scene.
The suspects were arrested and brought to the Gat Andres Bonifacio Medical Center for a mandatory medical examination.
