- The Universal Social Pension is not yet a law
The Muntinlupa City government reminded the public that there is no registration yet for the Universal Social Pension.
According to the Muntinlupa Office of Senior Citizens Affairs, the Universal Social Pension is still a bill and not yet a law.
“Bagamat naaprubahan na ng House of Representatives ang House Bill 10423, hindi pa ito batas. Kailangan pa itong dumaan sa Senado at mapirmahan ng Pangulo bago ito maipatupad (Although House Bill 10423 has been approved by the House of Representatives, it is not yet a law. It still needs to pass through the Senate and be signed by the President before it can be implemented),” the city government posted on Facebook.
As of now, there is no registration or application for this, and OSCA is not accepting registrations yet. To avoid inconvenience, everyone is encouraged not to go to OSCA centers to inquire about this).”
The city government said the Universal Social Pension is different from the Social Pension under Republic Act 9994.
Under the Social Pension, P500 is given monthly to indigent senior citizens who don’t have any pension or support while the Universal Social Pension is not yet a law.
The Universal Social Pension aims to give pension to all senior citizens.
