Pabahay kay 'Isko' at 'Iska': DHSUD eyes rental housing pilot for UP constituents
The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) is considering to pilot a housing rental project at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City under the administration’s flagship “Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH)” expanded program.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling vowed to provide funding support for the housing project during a meeting with UP officials led by its president, Mr. Angelo Jimenez, at UP Diliman on Thursday night, June 5.
Aliling and Jimenez agreed to move forward with the implementation of a previously signed memorandum of understanding (MOU) through a rental housing scheme for constituents of the country’s premier learning institution.
“We will provide the necessary technical assistance to ensure the success of this collaboration. Once approved, DHSUD stands committed to fund the land development portion for the pilot project,” Aliling said.
Pag-IBIG Fund CEO Marilene Acosta, who also attended the meeting of DHSUD and UP Diliman officials, backed the proposed pilot project.
Aliling said the initiative was part of his vow during his assumption as housing chief last week to expand the recalibrated 4PH Program to include all modalities like horizontal socialized housing developments and rental housing.
Previously, 4PH was focused only on vertical developments or condominium-type housing projects intended for targeted beneficiaries.
Aliling tasked DHSUD officials to work closely with the UP management to ensure the smooth rollout of the rental housing pilot under the 4PH program.
