TACLOBAN CITY – A 48-year-old farmer stabbed his wife to death then took his own life on Thursday, June 4, in Barangay Tenani, Paranas, Samar.
Police identified the victim as Issa, 38, also a farmer.
Investigation said Issa and the suspect Boy had a heated argument over the victim’s plan to head to Manila for work.
Boy grabbed a local bladed weapon called sundang and stabbed his wife in the body multiple times.
Issa died on the spot and the suspect repeatedly stabbed himself with the sundang.
Neighbors called police who found the victim on the ground at the back and the suspect inside their house. He was lying face down with blood oozing from his body.
Lawmen recovered the murder weapon and another sundang at the scene.
The couple was taken to the Paranas Rural Health Unit by the emergency rescue response team where they were declared dead.
Police are conducting follow-up investigation.
