NCRPO, lawyer's group sign agreement to maximize legal assistance for service-related charges
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has signed an agreement with the Metro Manila chapter of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) to maximize legal assistance to policemen facing service-related charges.
NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin said the agreement he signed also covers legal counseling and education to uniformed personnel, particularly those facing service-related legal challenges.
“This initiative aligns with the Chief PNP’s (Gen, Nicolas Torre III) program to enhance officers' legal expertise through re-education, equipping them with up-to-date knowledge of existing laws to ensure fair and effective law enforcement,” said Aberin during the agreement signing on June 4 at the NCRPO Multi-Purpose Hinirang Hall, Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig.
“Collaboration with legal experts will further enhance officers’ comprehension and application of the law, foster professionalism, and reinforce public trust,” he added.
Aberin also emphasized the need for institutional support in aiding police officers through legal challenges, all while upholding the highest ethical standards.
For his part, National Police Commission (Napolcom) vice chairperson and executive officer Rafael Vicente R. Calinisan said the initiative is a big boost to keeping the community safe.
““Through teamwork, we reinforce the foundations of justice and empower institutions to uphold fairness, integrity, and transparency,” Calinisan said.
