2 dead, 3 injured as water refilling station's 2nd floor collapses in Pasay City
The injured victims, all construction workers, were identified as alias “Leonardo,” 55; alias “Melvin,” 28; and alias “Richard,” 33.
Leonardo was brought to Pasay City General Hospital, while Melvin and Richard were rushed to Taguig-Pateros Hospital for treatment.
De Sesto said the incident happened at around 3:55 p.m. at Eureka Purified Drinking Water Station located on Access Merville Road in Barangay 201, Pasay City.
Melvin, one of the injured victims, said he was on the second floor, leveling freshly poured concrete flooring and beams, while his four co-workers had gone downstairs.
Moments later, the second floor suddenly gave way, burying them under the rubble.
The collapse was attributed to the wooden supports failing to bear the weight of the poured cement and sand.
