The Cavalry saved two match points and then put up a well-executed game in the decider to frustrate the Falcons and arrange a matchup against defending champion Onic Philippines for a spot in the grand finals.
Down 0-2 in Game 3 but refusing to waive the white flag, TLPH came back to its senses and dictated the team fights behind the perfectly timed initiations from Jaypee “Jaypee” Dela Cruz’s Chip.
That was very much evident in the deciding clash when the initiation of Jaypee resulted in a wipeout to the side of FCON for a 16-6 win to add another lifeline to the squad.
In Game 4, TLPH trailed by as many as 4,500 golds in the economy but managed to turn things around in just one Lord clash.
Team Liquid picked off Team Falcon’s David “Flaptzy” Canon and Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo giving the team a free Lord which they used to force the decider with a come-from-behind 8-3 win.
Riding the momentum from their earlier two wins, TLPH executed the same teleportation plays it used in Game 3 albeit with a different hero, this time Alston “Sanji” Pabico’s Luo Yi to complete the comeback with a 15-3 Game 5 win.
Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, who became the first MPL PH player in history to reach 2,000 career kills spearheaded TLPH in Game 3 with a 6-0-6 KDA while Kiel “Oheb” Soriano finished what he had started with 5-0-3 line on the Harith in Game 4 and an even more impressive 9-2-4 KDA on the Granger in Game 5.
