Negros Oriental 3rd district congresswoman-elect Janice Degamo gave an ecstatic reaction on Facebook over the news that her predecessors, expelled congressman Arnolfo "Arnie" Teves Jr., had been turned over to Philippine authorities after years in hiding abroad.
"God is good all the time! Justice will prevail!" Degamo wrote on Facebook at past midnight of Friday, May 30.
"For the first time in more than 2 years Arnie Teves is back in the Philippines in the custody of the NBI," she said, referring to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Teves is the alleged mastermind behind the broad-daylight killing of the incoming congresswoman's husband, Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo, in Pamplona town on March 4, 2023. He and nine others were shot to death by a group of heavily armed men.
Following his capture by local authorities in Timor-Leste, Teves was tuned over to Philippine authorities Thursday, May 29 and was deported. The plane carrying the controversial politician reportedly left Timor-Leste on Thursday afternoon.
"I will never stop fighting until all those who suffered at the hands of the Teves Terrorist Group receive the justice they deserve," Degamo further said in her Facebook post.
Degamo ran in the May 12 mid-term elections as a member of the dominant Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party.
