Malabon City deploys power washers to combat extreme heat
The Malabon City government began operating three high-powered water pressure washers on Tuesday, May 27, to clean and cool down roads, parks, and other public areas amid the extreme summer heat.
The initiative, led by Malabon Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, prioritizes areas with heavy foot traffic, including public markets, sidewalks, and major parks.
Using these power washers, we have started pumping water in various parts of the city, particularly in roads and parks. This helps reduce the impact of the summer heat and ensures the health of residents. It also allows up to water plants and trees, contributing to a more pleasant environment),” Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said.
The washers -- rated at 2,300 watts, with a pressure of 150 bars and a delivery rate of 510 liters per hour -- are equipped with 4-pole motors with thermal protection, ceramic pistons, built-in detergent tanks, and ergonomic trolleys.
Sandoval said the initiative is part of a broader campaign promoting public health and hygiene during the summer months.
This effort aligns with our ongoing citywide cleaning operations to prevent flooding when the rainy season arrives. The people of Malabon can rest assured that we are ready to assist them, no matter the weather),” she added.
The targeted locations for the operation include Malabon Center Island, Malabon Landmark, Catmon People's Park, and Hulo Plaza.
The city government also encourages residents to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours.
