- The iconic boy band is back in Manila for a series of concerts.
They are to perform at a two-night concert to be held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on May 30-31.
During a press conference held at the Solaire Hotel in Parañaque City, the group, composed of brothers Nick and Drew Lachey, Jeff Timmons, and Justin Jeffre, shared what makes their Pinoy fans special.
"We came to the airport, and there was a mob of them there waiting for us, making us feel like actual rock stars,” Drew recalled.
'It's good to be back here in the Philippines. We have an affinity for this place. We broke here before anywhere else, and we have the most success here. We are thrilled to be back after 25 years," Jeff said.
Justin on his part noted how their Filipino fans are so welcoming and accommodating.
"I think one thing that has not changed is how inviting the people are. We've been here for over a few hours, but they are already treating us like kings the entire time," He said.
Although they have a hectic schedule, the band took time to share some of their go-to Filipino food.
"My wife is half-filipina so my go-to Filipino food is Chicken Adobo, but yesterday I had pancit for lunch and it was amazing," Nick shared.
Meanwhile, his brother Drew mentioned how fond he is of the local beers.
"I've had of couple Filipino beers since we got here, and I've got to say they were delicious," Drew mentioned.
Aside from the food, the group also admired other Pinoy singers, such as Regine Velasquez, Martin Nievera, and more.
"Martin Nievera, an amazing legend… Regine Velasquez is incredible, and there are so many talented (artists here)…”Justin said.
The secret to longevity
Being in the music scene for 3 decades now, the band was asked what keeps 98 Degrees strong.
"I think patience and respect. After all these years, we have tons of respect for each other, the two of us are brothers the other two grew up together and we've been through so much together, highs and lows, it's a unique experience that only the four of us can relay and talk about," Jeff said.
Meanwhile, Justin mentioned that they share the same values.
"We're all from the mid-west in Ohio and we share the same values so, I think that really helps in our relationship as a band through the years," he said.
