SPD Director provides financial assistance to Parañaque cop

Southern Police District (SPD) Director, Brig. Gen. Joseph Arguelles provided financial assistance to the Parañaque City Police officer who was critically injured while trying to stop a knife-wielding man in Barangay San Antonio on Friday, May 23.
Director Arguelles personally visited Staff Sgt. Carlo Sotelo Navarro at his residence in Las Piñas City to give financial assistance and express the department’s support to Navarro and his family.
“PSSg Navarro is a true hero. His unwavering commitment to protect and serve, even at great personal risk, is an inspiration to us all,” Arguelles said.
Navarro was assigned to the Parañaque City Police BF Homes Substation when the incident occurred.
Police officers and Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPATs) members responded to the scene along Creek I Drive, Barangay San Antonio. They attempted to calm the suspect, but he became increasingly hostile and stabbed Navarro in the head and chest, inflicting serious injuries.
