National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Jaime B. Santiago submitted his courtesy resignation to President Marcos on Friday, May 23.
In his resignation letter sent to the President through Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin, Santiago expressed his full cooperation to ensure a smooth resignation and turnover.
"I hereby respectfully tender my courtesy resignation as Director of the National Bureau of Investigation, Department of Justice," he said in his letter.
"Upon your acceptance, the undersigned will immediately begin the process of turning over in an orderly manner all the matters pending in my office,” he also said.
He added: "It has been an honor to be a part of your government, Mr. President. I will continue to serve the Filipino people alongside you towards a Bagong Pilipinas. Thank you and more power.”
Santiago was appointed NBI Director on June 14, 2024. He served as a prosecutor from 2003 to 2006 before becoming a presiding judge of a regional trial court (RTC) in Manila.
