- Duterte Youth Party-list Chairman Ronald Cardema said Friday, May 23, that his claim that Civil Service Commission (CSC) chairman Marilyn Yap has resigned following the President's Cabinet revamp is only based on a television report he saw.
"I am only basing it on the report of mainstream media," Cardema said in a message to Manila Bulletin.
His clarification came after he claimed during the Pandesal Forum Friday that Yap submitted her resignation--like what Cabinet secretaries did--in compliance with Malacañang's move--and that Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia must follow suit.
"Bakit di mo samahan? Bakit di ka manindigan sa wisdom ng nag appoint sayo (Why didn't you join her in resigning? Why don't you defer to the wisdom of the one who appointed you)," Cardema said as he called for Garcia's resignation.
Yap, in a statement on Friday afternoon, denied that she resigned from her post and said that the CSC was not part of agencies whose heads are being asked by President Marcos to resign.
The Yap family also called out the news report about her supposed resignation, according to Cardema.
Nevertheless, Cardema said his message on Garcia remains.
"Malacanang updated their call yesterday and included secretary-level & heads of agencies. Even though he is not part of the executive, he occupies a secretary-level SG position and a head of agency," Cardema said.
"But the call of the President is just a call for delicadeza for everybody, why not trust the wisdom of the President who was their appointing authority," he added.
