Drug busts in Bulacan: 17 suspects nabbed, P800K shabu seized

Police seized over P800,000 worth of shabu from 17 drug suspects during anti-illegal drug operations conducted in Bulacan on Monday, May 19, and Tuesday, May 20.

Col. Franklin Estro, Bulacan police officer-in-charge (OIC), said five suspects were apprehended in an anti-illegal drug operation led by Lt. Col. Edilmar Alviar of  the San Jose Del Monte Police, in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), at Myna Street, Camella Cielo, Barangay Kaybanban. 

Authorities recovered from the suspects 30 grams of shabu worth P204,000 and the marked money.

In Barangay Catmon, Sta Maria, a joint buy-bust operation was carried out under the leadership of Lt. Col. Voltaire Rivera, involving the Bulacan Police Intelligence Unit, Bulacan Police Intelligence Team East, Regional Intelligence Unit 3, and PDEA Bulacan. 

Two suspected drug personalities listed on the PNP-PDEA Unified Watchlist were arrested during the operation. Seized from them were 48 grams of shabu valued at P326,400, the marked money, and a Honda Click 125 motorcycle with plate number 632WZE.

Additionally, three suspects, including a minor, were collared during a buy-bust operation in Northville 3, Brgy. Bayugo, by operatives of the Meycauayan City Station Drug Enforcement Unit, led by Lt. Col. Manuel Bayaona Jr., at around 12:15 a.m. on May 20. 

Recovered from the suspects were an estimated 26.8 grams of suspected shabu worth P182,240. The minor was placed under the custody of the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) Office of Meycauayan City.

Furthermore, two individuals were arrested by the CSJDM police in Brgy. Bagong Buhay I, at around 2 am. on May 20. They were caught engaging in illegal gambling known as "Cara y Cruz." 

During frisking, police recovered from them suspected shabu worth P27,400, three one-peso coins used for gambling, and other betting money.

Meanwhile, a man was arrested by Norzagaray police at a routine anti-criminality checkpoint in Brgy. Tigbe, Norzagaray at around 11:30 a.m. on May 19 for multiple violations, including possession of illegal drugs. 

In separate buy-bust operations conducted by the Station Drug Enforcement Units of Malolos City, San Rafael, Marilao, and Obando, four additional suspects were arrested, and illegal drugs valued at P51,680 were confiscated, along with the buy-bust money. 

All the arrested suspects and seized evidence were taken to the Bulacan Provincial Forensic Unit for examination. Criminal charges for violations of R.A. 9165 are currently being prepared for filing in court.
