Among things that keep Kitchie inspired are her kids Keon and Iago.
The 44-year-old related in a recent Zoom interview, "I'm thankful for my children kasi they are the ones that keep me creative, they kept my creative side alive and flowing. Kasi dati mahilig ako magsulat ng mga emo and heartbreak song, but this time I'm more driven to write more positive songs."
Kitchie is now based in Spain and whenever she travels for gigs, she admitted to missing her children.
"Madali naman ako magadjust sa mga time between Spain and Philippines, pero ang pinaka-challenge lang siguro sa akin is yung leaving my kids, that's the hardest part. That's why when I go to the Philippines, I'm very selective when it comes to gigs, focused ako on the gigs that I'm compelled to do," she shared.
Having been staying in Spain for almost eight years now, Kitchie also mentioned what she misses about the Philippines.
"Siguro yung pinakanami-miss ko is yung music scene kasi that's was my life for so many years, performing on weekends minsan weekdays pa that was my lifestyle. And of course, hanging out with my friends and of course watching shows in bars, and especially the Filipino crowd."
Her life in Spain is simple. She is mostly focused on rearing her children.
"Because they are quite a handful already, that's why I don't explore other projects. But when I have some extra time, I will do some songwriting or go out with my husband," Kitchie shared.
Kitchie first gained prominence as the original lead vocalist of Mojofly.
She came to her own several years later, charting several hits, including "Huwag na Huwag Mong Sasabihin," "Same Ground," "Bulong," among others.
She will perform her first solo concert at the Big Dome on June 21.
Titled "New Ground Manila 2025," Kitchie is excited to take her fans on a trip down memory lane via the concert.
She will also share some of her newer materials.
"I’m most excited about the new collaborations—especially with guest artists I’ve never worked with before. We’re doing something really out of the box this time, mixing genres and creating unexpected moments, something fans haven’t seen from me yet," Kitchie said.
Produced by RG Productions, Black Star Entertainment, and Flow Asia, tickets for the show are now available via ticketnet.com.ph.
