Kabataan on Duterte Youth's proclamation woes: 'Deserve'

"Deserve," Kabataan Party-list representative-elect Renee Co said Monday, May 19, during the proclamation of winning party-lists in the 2025 mid-term elections at the Manila Hotel.

Co says Duterte Youth's proclamation suspension "is the first step" in addressing the years-long clamor of the youth sector for its disqualification since they ran for a congressional seat.

"Hindi nila binitbit ever ang panawagan ng sektor ng kabataan. Ang pangangailangan nila sa edukasyon, trabaho, serbisyo, karapatan, kasarinlan (They never carried the call of the youth sector—their calls regarding education, livelihood, service, rights and sovereignty)," Co said.

Co said Kabataan "welcomes" the poll body's decision.

"And of course, we are guarded so that the following steps until the disqualification persist," she said.

Duterte Youth ranked second among the 155 party-lists that ran in the elections, while Kabataan ranked 41st.
