The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) identified those arrested last May 15 as Jawewe Sakaluran Halil, a PDL at the minimum-security facility, and Louie Ocampo, son of a former corrections officer, and his wife Fatima Madjid.
BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. has ordered the SRPPF to “implement stricter measures on the use of government quarters intended for its personnel.”
Catapang also ordered SRPPF superintendent, C/SSupt. Daisy Sevilla Castillote, “to conduct a thorough investigation and to see to it that no government quarters will not be used in illicit activities.”
The BuCor said that Castillote’s report to Catapang stated that prior to the arrest, her office received an intelligence report from an informant that PDLs have been going to the store owned by the couple inside the prison reservation.
It said the SRPPF acted on the information and, last Thursday, prison officers conducted an inspection of Halil after seeing him leave the store.
With the confiscation of three sachets of shabu, it also said that Halil admitted that he bought the illegal drugs from the store of spouses Ocampo.
Thus, the SRPPF conducted a search of the store using K9 units and "confiscated four sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), 30 pieces strip aluminum foils, six lighters, three improvised spatula and one pack transparent plastic,” it added.
The BuCor said those arrested have been turned over to the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the confiscated shabu have been turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
