Suspected bomb found in Quiapo, later declared safe

A possible bomb scare near the Church of God International in Quiapo, Manila, was resolved safely on Tuesday morning, May 13, after authorities confirmed the objects found were not hazardous.

At around 7:56 a.m. on Tuesday, Glenn John Reyes, a 44-year-old maintenance worker from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), discovered four suspicious objects wrapped in tape while cleaning a drainage along Quezon Boulevard, near the church.

Reyes immediately reported the discovery to the Manila Police District (MPD) Plaza Miranda Police Community Precinct (PCP).

The information was then relayed to the officers of MPD Sta. Cruz Police Station, who dispatched an investigation team to the scene.

The MPD's Department of Explosive and Chemical Unit (DECU) was also alerted.

Upon arriving, authorities, including a K9 unit, inspected the area.

After a thorough assessment, they determined that the objects were not bombs and posed no threat.

The investigation was concluded before noon on the same day, with authorities advising local businesses in the area to remain alert.

Police said the situation was officially declared safe, and no further action was required.
