- Senior citizens, pregnant women and persons with disabilities (PWDs) are still allowed to cast their vote although the special voting hours for these priority individuals have already passed, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Monday, May 12.
Comelec spokesman John Rex Laudiangco said that senior citizens, pregnant women and PWDs may still vote during the regular voting hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
And they, along with their assistors, will be prioritized, he added.
This came as the Comelec opened for the first time special voting hours of 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. to allow certain groups of individuals to vote with convenience and avoid the crowd of regular voters.
"Akala po nila, di na sila makakaboto. Option lamang po yung 5 a.m. to 7 a.m (They thought they could no longer vote. That's only an option to vote from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m)," Laudiangco said during Comelec's election bulletin as of 7 a.m.
"'Pag kayo po dumaan sa pagitan na 'yun, ng alas-siyete ng umaga hanggang alas-siyete ng gabi, priority pa rin po kayo. Hindi pa rin po kayo papapilahin (If you arrive at the precinct from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., you will remain a priority and do not have to fall in line)," he added.
