CEBU CITY – Suspected shabu valued at more than P10 million was seized in a week-long anti-illegal drug operation in Central Visayas.
The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) reported that 122 operations were conducted from April 27 to May 3 where 1,536.9 grams of shabu were confiscated.
One-hundred forty-four drug personalities were arrested and charged in court, the PRO-7 said.
The PRO-7 warned that while the focus is on ensuring a peaceful conduct of the midterm elections on May 12, the campaign against illegal drugs in the region will remain relentless.
Police Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, chief of PRO-7, said the continued cooperation of the community has been instrumental in the successful conduct of anti-illegal drug operations.
"The success of our operations is not ours alone—it is shared with every barangay and citizen who believes in a safer Central Visayas,” said Maranan.
Maranan assured that they will continue to enforce a holistic approach in achieving peace in the region.
He added that the public can count on the PRO-7 that necessary measures will be taken to ensure that the upcoming elections in the region will be peaceful.
