The agency said the indefinite closure will be part of its traffic management plan to address traffic problems and vehicular accidents in the area.
MMDA said the left turning ramp from Manila to Cubao of the Magallanes Interchange will be impassable to vehicles at 6 a.m.
The data of MMDA Traffic Engineering Center’s vehicular volume count showed that 7,722 vehicles were traversing the interchange from Manila to EDSA Northbound. Meantime, 19,304 vehicles traversed from EDSA to Nichols (South Superhighway).
The said vehicles, as per the agency, crisscross in this portion, causing traffic gridlock and accidents.
In 2017, the MMDA’s Road Safety Unit recorded 360 road crash incidents, and 292 road crash incidents in 2018 along Magallanes Interchange.
Motorists are advised to take the Magallanes Loop/Magallanes Village.
