CEBU CITY—More than half of the towns in Cebu province are already coronavirus disease (COVID-19)-free.
Dr. Christina Giango, chief of the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), said 31 of the 44 towns no longer have active COVID-19 cases.
Giango said that from November to December 22, the province recorded 10 additional towns with zero active COVID-19 cases.
The province is composed of 44 towns and six component cities.
Among the towns with no active COVID-19 cases are Alcoy, Alegria, Aloguinsan, Asturias, Badian, Bantayan, Barili, Boljoon, Borbon, Catmon, Daanbantayan, Dalaguete, Dumanjug, Ginatilan, Madridejos, Malabuyoc, Medellin, Moalboal, Oslob, Pilar, Poro, Samboan, San Fernando, San Francisco, Santa Fe, Santander, Sogod, Tabogon, Tuburan, and Tudela.
Carcar is the lone city in the province with zero COVID-19 cases.
“The strict compliance with health protocols really contributed to the decrease in COVID-19 cases in the province,” said Giango.
As of December 22, the towns with COVID-19 cases are Argao (10); Balamban (6); Consolacion (5); Sibonga (4); Minglanilla (3); San Remigio (3); Compostela (2); Liloan (2); Alcantara (1); Carmen (1); Cordova (1); Pinamungajan (1); Ronda (1); Tabuelan (1); dakbayan sa Talisay, (5); Danao (4); Naga (4); Bogo (3); and Toledo (2).
Included in the 78 actives cases in the province are the 19 cases at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center.
Giango reminded Cebuanos to continue observing the health protocols during the Christmas holidays.
