BAGUIO CITY – A municipal trial court judge was declared by the Supreme Court's First Division guilty of simple misconduct after figuring in a parking controversy in Baguio City in October last year.
Cabanatuan City Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) Branch 3 Judge Nelson Largo was also ordered to pay the fine of P11,000.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the copy of the decision was received by his office on Dec. 23.
It ruled on the letter of Magalong dated Nov. 15, 2020 informing the court of the grievance of the city's traffic law enforcers who were charged for indirect contempt by the judge after his vehicle was issued a traffic citation ticket for illegal parking at the city market on Oct. 25, 2019.
The city council in November, 2019, passed a resolution declaring Largo ‘persona non grata’ in Baguio City.
The body said the act of Bernard Batnag, an enforcer of the Public Order and Safety Division (POSD) under the City Mayor’s Office who issued a ticket to Largo's driver for illegally parking at the city market was in accordance with Ordinance No. 01, Series of 2003, the Baguio City Number Coding Scheme as amended.
