The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) served a total of 135,885,336 passengers in 2024, which is more than 5.3 percent higher compared to its ridership in 2023.
MRT-3 General Manager (GM) Oscar B. Bongon said the rise in passenger numbers can be attributed to the rail line's continuous maintenance and operational improvements, following its major rehabilitation in 2021.
"In 2024, as the MRT-3 celebrated its silver anniversary, the line remained a trusted choice for passengers in Metro Manila," Bongon said, emphasizing that its maintenance program ensured consistent travel times of 30 minutes from North Avenue Station to Taft Avenue Station.
Bongon said the train system maintained a headway of 3.5 to 4 minutes during peak hours, with 18 trains deployed to meet passenger demand.
This operational efficiency contributed to a 5.1 percent rise in average daily ridership, which increased to 375,474 passengers from 357,198 in 2023.
October recorded the highest monthly ridership at 12,030,245 passengers, followed by August with 11,683,519 and January with 11,646,983.
On Dec. 20, MRT-3 offered free rides to 938,412 passengers, including the highest single-day ridership of 469,930 passengers.
The MRT-3 continues to play a vital role in providing reliable and efficient public transportation for Metro Manila commuters, reaffirming its commitment to service excellence.
