DPWH: Expanded national road network strengthens regional economic links
By Trixee Rosel

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has declared several new national roads to improve transportation links and promote regional development across the Philippines.
DPWH officials said these newly recognized routes are expected to enhance road connectivity between urban and rural areas, facilitate the movement of goods, and boost accessibility, driving economic growth across the regions.
The newly declared national roads span crucial areas in Luzon and Mindanao. In Central Luzon, the 7-kilometer Subic Bypass Road and the 523-meter Rizal Avenue in Zambales now fall under the jurisdiction of the Zambales 2nd District Engineering Office.
In Calabarzon, the 4.16-kilometer Imus-Bacoor Link Road in Cavite joins the national network under the Cavite 3rd District Engineering Office.
Meanwhile, Batangas adds two key roads to the national network: the 8.9-kilometer Batangas City–San Pascual–Bauan Diversion Road and the 4.76-kilometer Star Tollway–Pinamucan Bypass Road, both of which will be managed by the Batangas 2nd District Engineering Office.
In Mindanao, the 7.76-kilometer Midsayap Diversion Road in Cotabato is now part of the national road system and will fall under the Cotabato 1st District Engineering Office in Region 12.
These newly declared roads are designed to improve access to vital infrastructure such as seaports and airports, ensuring more efficient transport for both passengers and businesses.
DPWH is confident that the expanded road network will significantly contribute to national economic progress by stimulating activity and fostering development across the regions.
