TACLOBAN CITY - Philippine Airlines launched its maiden Cebu-Catarman-Cebu flight on Tuesday, March 4.
An 86-seat aircraft serves the route every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
PAL Regional Head Leonard Bryan Sansolis recommended Northern Samar as an alternative tourist destination with its hidden natural attractions.
“This route offers a fantastic opportunity to explore its beaches and rich culture and enjoy the warm hospitality of its people,” he said.
The Cebu-Catarman route is the flag carrier's second destination to Catarman as it also has a direct Manila-Catarman flight.
Apart from being an enjoyable site, Sansolis believes the flight will foster a strong exchange of culture and commerce between Cebu and the Eastern Visayas region.
“This is not just about connecting Catarman to Cebu but opening up a world of possibility for the people of Northern Samar. From Cebu, you can seamlessly connect to other popular destinations such as Boracay, Clark, Coron, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Siargao, and Manila, complementing our days of operations there,” he said.
The provincial government through Vice Gov. Clarence Dato thanked PAL and partners for making it possible to reach Northern Samar destinations with more ease.
Before the opening of the new route, Gov. Edwin Ongchuan met PAL officials to request additional flights to Northern Samar for increased access to people intending visit to the province.
