A 28-year-old man was arrested by the Pasig City Police on March 3 for repeatedly raping his cousin for four years in Barangay San Nicolas, Pasig City, the Eastern Police District (EPD) reported.

The suspect was identified as "Renzo," a resident of Barangay Pinagbuhatan. Renzo was tagged as the city's No. 3 and the EPD's No. 2 most wanted person.

Based on the police report, Renzo was nabbed by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 159 in Pasig City, dated Aug. 15, 2022, for the crime of rape and sexual assault.

EPD district director Col. Villamor Tuliao said the suspect's arrest stemmed from a rape incident that transpired in 2018 where Renzo raped his then 16-year-old cousin multiple times for four years.

The victim eventually had the courage to report her cousin's abuse to her family, prompting them to file charges against him.

Renzo is currently under the custody of the Pasig City Police.

Tuliao lauded the police's successful arrest of the suspect.

“Receiving reports related to sexual violence is indeed alarming, and it is something that we take seriously. We want to assure the public that Team Pamamarisan will carry on with its mission to address criminality with excellence, professionalism, and discipline. Sexual violence has no place in our community, and we will always be committed to safeguarding the rights, safety, and wellbeing of everyone,” Tuliao said.

“To our police officers, we are rooted in a deep sense of responsibility to serve and protect the community. Thus, let us intensify our proactive efforts to eradicate these horrific acts and make the offenders liable for their actions. We should not tolerate this kind of crime in any way because it is not just a mere violation of the law; it violates the fundamental rights of a human being,” he added.
