Marcos brushes off call to undergo follicle drug test

President Marcos will not heed the call of his former spokesperson, Vic Rodriguez, to undergo follicle drug test, saying it has nothing to do with public trust.

"No. Why should I do that? What is he saying public trust, public office-- it has nothing to do with a follicle test," Marcos said in an interview on Friday, Jan. 31.

"Wala namang koneksyon yung sinasabi niya (It has no connection with what he is saying)," Marcos added.

The President said this as a response to the call of the former executive secretary for Marcos to undergo hair follicle drug test, citing the Constitutional principle that public office is a public trust.

Marcos took a swipe at his former spokesperson, whom he later appointed as executive secretary in 2022, saying "it has always been his weakness."

"He's always had that weakness every time we... when he was still working for me. If you believe in what he will say, why did he work for me?" the President said.

This was not the first time Rodriguez made the call. The former Palace official also urged Marcos to take the follicle test in April last year amid allegations that he is an illegal drug user.
