Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro has made a fan out of Bataan 1st district Rep. Geraldine Roman.
Roman couldn't help but gush over the refreshing mix of attitude and aptitude that Castro has been displaying ever since the latter took on her new role as Palace Press Officer a week ago.
"I like her, really, di ba (right)? Hindi naman sa biased ako dahil babae siya (It's not that I'm biased because she's a woman). I like her because she comes from the sector herself," Roman said of the newly-installed Palace mouthpiece.
"She knows what she's talking about. Bukod pa sa fact na very prangka siya, madaling mag-connect siya (That's aside from the fact that she's very frank and easy to connect with)," said the chairperson of the Committee on Women and Gender Equality.
Castro, a lawyer and radio personality, was sworn in by President Marcos in Malacañang last Feb, 24.
"She was actually a resource person in the tri-comm (tri-committee hearings). Nagulat nga ako, wow (I was surprised, wow)...in fact she was the logical choice to be the presidential spokesperson. Kudos to her," Roman said.
The House tri-comm has been conducting an inquiry on the spread of fake news online--something that gone into high gear with the mid-term elections just around the corner.
Castro has expressed her support for proposals coming out of the tri-comm hearings to create a regulatory body for social media. The main purpose of this is to curb fake news and disinformation.
"We all agree that has to be a regulatory body," Roman said.
"And sana nga (hopefully) this regulatory body will come from--will be formed among the stakeholders themselves," the Bataan lawmaker said.
