Police have arrested 34 individuals for violating the election gun ban in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Police Regional Office–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) chief Police Brig. Gen. Romeo Macapaz said that 36 assorted firearms were seized from the suspects.
Among the suspects, police said, were Thong Gayak, chairperson of Barangay Tamontaka 4 in Cotabato City.
Gayak was arrested along with two companions on March 1 in a checkpoint in Barangay Rosary Heights 3, Cotabato City for possession of three unlicensed pistols.
The suspects failed to present documents legalizing possession of firearms or an election gun ban exemption.
The PRO-BAR said they will strictly enforce the gun and no special treatment will be accorded to any violator.
The suspects face charges for violating Commission on Elections (Comelec) Resolution 11067, also known as the Comelec gun ban, and Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Meanwhile, PRO-BAR will establish more checkpoints to ensure compliance with the gun ban as the campaign period for local positions will be held from March 28 to May 10. Increased political activities are expected across the region.
The PRO-BAR said they are committed to maintaining peace and order during the campaign period.
