PPA releases list of prohibited firecrackers in ports

Are you going to travel by sea to go to the province for the New Year’s revelry? You might want to check the list of firecrackers that are not allowed to be transported in ports as released by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) to ensure that the traveling public will have a safe and secure trip.

According to the PPA, prohibited firecrackers include watusi, piccolo, poppop, five star, pla-pla, Lolo Thunder, giant bawang, and giant whistle bomb.

The agency also reminded travelers not to bring atomic bomb, Super Lolo, atomic triangle, Goodbye Bading, large-size judas belt, boga (improvised PVC cannons), and kwiton.

The list also includes Goodbye Delima, Bin Laden, Hello Columbia, Mother Rockets, Coke-in-can, Super Yolanda, pillbox, and Goodbye Philippines.

Other firecrackers and fireworks might be added to the list in the coming days upon further evaluation by the PPA in coordination with other government agencies.

The PPA said that the decision to ban the said firecrackers was part of their efforts to minimize the risks associated with such items during the holiday season as these often lead to injuries, fires, and other public safety concerns.

It said the ban will be strictly enforced in all port facilities, including terminals, piers, and passenger ships where the transport of hazardous materials is prohibited.

The PPA warned that firecrackers will be confiscated by duly-authorized personnel in ports and safely disposed.

As of Dec. 27, a total of 113,220 passengers were monitored in all ports nationwide.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said it monitored 59,613 outbound passengers and 53,607 inbound passengers in various ports from 6 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday.
