Sexagenarian uncle hacked dead by nephew in a grudge attack in Negros

BACOLOD CITY - Personal grudges which stemmed from alleged harassments led to the death of a 64-year-old man after he was reportedly hacked by his nephew in Barangay Mabini, Escalante City, Negros Occidental on Sunday, August 30.
Police identified the victim as Benjo.
Police Chief Master Sgt. Rodel Betic, chief investigator of Escalante City Police Station, said the victim was intoxicated, and was on his way home when he was suddenly attacked by the suspect identified as Jethro, with a sickle.
Betic said the suspect may have been irked with the victim’s behavior wherein he would allegedly harass his relatives every time he’s intoxicated.
He speculated that the suspect may have seized the opportunity a to execute his revenge as his drunk uncle made his way home.
The victim succumbed to multiple hack wounds, according to the police.
The suspect voluntarily surrendered to a barangay official and was turned over to the responding police officers. The murder weapon measuring approximately 16 inches from tip to handle was recovered.
He said the family has initially agreed not to file any charges against the suspect, acknowledging the victim’s drunken behavior.
