Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) increased its tollway revenues by more than eight percent year-on-year to nearly ₱20 billion in the first half of 2026, fueled by the continued expansion of its road network.

In a statement on Monday, Aug. 31, Manuel V. Pangilinan-led MPTC said revenues from toll operations reached ₱19.6 billion from January to June, higher than the ₱18.1 billion recorded in the same period last year.

MPTC attributed the increase to the expansion of its toll roads in the Philippines and its growing presence in Indonesia, which helped offset slightly weaker domestic traffic volume.

The company said its average daily traffic in the country went down by one percent to 715,000 from 722,000 a year ago.

Meanwhile, traffic on its Indonesian toll roads rose by three percent to 1.67 million a day. As a whole, MPTC said its average daily traffic across its regional portfolio improved by one percent to about 2.5 million.

Including its network in Vietnam, MPTC’s road network covers more than 1,100 kilometers (km) of toll roads.

“Our first-half results reflect a broader and still-expanding regional business,” MPTC said.

Locally, revenue growth was supported by the opening of the first phase of the C5 Link segment of Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) and Subsection 3 of Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX).

In Indonesia, MPTC said growth was driven by stable logistics activity, scheduled tariff adjustments, and improved access to toll roads.

MPTC, through its regional unit Metro Pacific Tollways Asia, holds a 92.8-percent stake in PT Nusantara Infrastructure, which manages a network of 13 toll roads across the Indonesian island of Java.

For the first half, MPTC said capital expenditures (capex) declined by five percent to ₱7.6 billion due to right-of-way (ROW) and construction issues affecting completion schedules for ongoing projects.

The company is currently working on Section 1A of Segment 8.2 of North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and the remaining CALAX subsections.

It is also constructing the CAVITEX-CALAX Link Expressway (CCLINK), while remaining works on CAVITEX C5 Link Segment 3B Phase 2 and NLEX Connector are also underway.

MPTC said financing costs for these infrastructure projects continue to be capitalized while the assets are being constructed.

“Our priority remains the same: keep our roads safe and reliable, finish critical links as quickly as right-of-way and construction conditions allow, and deliver better mobility for motorists, commuters and businesses,” it said.

Pangilinan earlier told reporters that the planned merger between MPTC and the tollway unit of San Miguel Corp. (SMC) is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of the year.

SMC, led by Ramon Ang, is expected to hold a 55-percent stake in the merged entity, while the remaining 45 percent will be held by MPTC, according to Pangilinan.
