Diesel drops by over ₱3.8 per liter starting Sept. 1

Motorists can breathe a sigh of relief at the pumps as oil prices drop during the first week of September.

Effective Tuesday, Sept. 1, Shell Pilipinas will implement a ₱3.80-per-liter rollback on diesel and kerosene, alongside a ₱0.30-per-liter price drop for gasoline.

Meanwhile, Seaoil will cut its prices by ₱3.83 per liter for diesel, ₱0.32 per liter for gasoline, and ₱3.84 per liter for kerosene.

The Department of Energy (DOE) has yet to release the official price adjustments for oil companies this week, and average inventory data remains unavailable as of writing.

A market expert earlier explained that the price cuts are driven by healthy supply following improved crude availability, though limited Middle Eastern exports have capped further declines.

According to the source, gasoline prices remained below last week's levels but have been climbing due to tight regional supply. Even with an increase in Chinese exports, current supply remains inadequate to satisfy strong seasonal demand and ease prompt market tightness.

As of last week, average prices stood at ₱76.90 per liter for gasoline (RON95), ₱89.40 per liter for diesel, and ₱118.10 per liter for kerosene.
