Cops seize P4.83-M shabu in Iloilo City

ILOILO CITY—An anti-drug operation seized more than P4.82 million worth of suspected shabu (crystal meth) in Iloilo City early Monday, August 31.

Drug suspects with the aliases of "Jerome" and "Garry" yielded around 710 grams of shabu in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Iloilo City Police Office – Station 2 Drug Enforcement Team and in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

The police conducted a series of surveillance, validation and profiling before successfully arresting Jerome, who is classified as a high-value individual (HVI).

Brigadier General Randulf T. Tuaño, regional director of Police Regional Office (PRO-6), lauded the operation that would cut back the proliferation of illegal drugs in Iloilo City.

“This operation represents drugs that will no longer reach our communities to harm our youth and families. This proves that through effective intelligence, validation, coordination, and vital information provided by our fellow citizens, we are achieving concrete results against the illegal drug trade,” said Tuaño in a statement on Monday, August 31.

The duo is facing charges for violating Republic Act No 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
