Vehicles swept down collapsed Agana Bridge; one person rescued
TARLAC CITY — Rescue teams continued their search Saturday night for possible victims after vehicles were reportedly swept down following the collapse of the Agana Bridge amid persistent heavy rains and strong currents in the Tarlac River.
Authorities confirmed that one survivor was rescued and brought to the Tarlac Provincial Hospital for medical assessment.
The City government of Tarlac said, the search and rescue operations remain ongoing .
Responders were still checking the area for other possible victims to determine the full extent of the incident.
The Agana Bridge has been closed to all motorists following damage attributed to continuous rainfall and the strong flow of water in the Tarlac River.
Authorities have warned motorists and residents not to attempt to cross or pass through the damaged bridge, citing the continuing danger in the area.
Motorists were already advised to take alternative routes and closely follow instructions from authorities .
Rescue and emergency operations are underway.
Residents in nearby and low-lying areas were likewise urged to remain vigilant, as rains continue to affect parts of Tarlac.
Emergency response teams remain on standby.
