Toddler stabbed to death by own father in Ilocos Sur

TAGUDIN, Ilocos Sur — A three-year-old child was allegedly stabbed to death by his own 29-year-old father in Barangay Lacong here on Friday, August 28, police said in a belated report.
Police said the suspect, also a resident of this town, fled after the incident and is now the subject of a manhunt.
Initial investigation disclosed that, before the incident, the victim’s grandmother and aunt reportedly heard the victim and the suspect talking to each other at around 1 a.m. on August 28.
At around 11 a.m., the grandmother became suspicious after noticing that her grandchild had not come out of the room.
She opened the door and found the child covered with a blanket. When she removed it, she saw blood on the victim’s chest.
The child was immediately rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The suspect had already fled the house when authorities arrived. Investigators said no bladed weapon believed to have been used in the killing was recovered from the crime scene.
Police are conducting follow-up operations to locate and arrest the suspect.
