MG Motor Philippines launched the new MG S5 EV at the TriNoma Activity Center on August 27, introducing the rear-wheel-drive compact electric SUV with a suggested retail price of ₱1,448,888.
The Philippine launch opened the Multiply Greatness Tour 2026, a nationwide roadshow featuring MG’s battery-electric, plug-in hybrid, and Hybrid+ vehicles.
The S5 EV uses a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 125 kW, equivalent to 170 PS, and 250 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels. Drivers can choose from Normal, Sport, Comfort, Snow, and Custom driving modes. The S5 EV also offers Low, Medium, Strong, and Adaptive regenerative-braking settings, together with a one-pedal driving function.
A 49-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery gives the S5 EV a claimed driving range of up to 415 km based on the NEDC testing cycle. The battery supports DC fast charging at up to 120 kW. Under suitable conditions, MG says it can be charged from 10 to 90 percent in approximately 24 minutes. AC charging is supported at up to 7 kW. Scheduled charging and battery thermal optimization are included. Vehicle-to-load capability allows the battery to supply electricity to compatible external devices.
The S5 EV measures 4,476 mm long, 1,849 mm wide, and 1,621 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,730 mm. It provides 453 liters of cargo space with the rear seats in place. Folding the rear seats and using the underfloor storage area increases capacity to 1,441 liters.
Exterior equipment includes projector LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, and 17-inch alloy wheels with aerodynamic fins. Gloss-black door mirrors, a rear spoiler, and roof rails rated to carry up to 75 kg are also fitted.
The cabin has a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto provide smartphone connectivity. Other features include automatic climate control, Smart Entry, an electronic parking brake with Auto Brake Hold, multiple USB ports, a PM2.5 cabin filter, and 60:40 split-folding rear seats.
The MG Pilot driver-assistance package covers forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, emergency lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot detection, and lane-change assistance. The system also provides door-opening warning, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, rear collision warning, intelligent headlight control, intelligent speed assistance, and driver monitoring.
Safety equipment includes seven airbags, an anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. Rear parking sensors and a reversing camera with dynamic guidelines are included. MG says the S5 EV received five-star safety ratings from Euro NCAP and ANCAP.
Buyers can choose from Desert Sand Beige, Andes Gray, Cosmic Silver, and Dover White.
MG is offering an introductory discount of ₱40,000, reducing the S5 EV’s price to ₱1,408,888. Customers who reserve the vehicle during the Multiply Greatness Tour can receive another ₱10,000 discount after paying a minimum reservation fee of ₱1,000. Applying both discounts brings the event price to ₱1,398,888. The offer includes ₱30,000 worth of charging equipment, consisting of a 7-kW wall charger and a 3.3-kW portable charger.
The tour reservation discount also applies to selected electrified models, including the MG4 Urban EV, RX9 PHEV, and HS PHEV. Other vehicles displayed during the tour include the Cyberster, MG4 Urban EV, G50 PHEV, RX9 PHEV, HS PHEV, MG3 Hybrid+, and ZS Hybrid+.
Visitors can test-drive the S5 EV, MG4 Urban EV, RX9 PHEV, HS PHEV, and G50 PHEV. After its opening stop at TriNoma, the Multiply Greatness Tour 2026 will continue to Pampanga, Laguna, and Cebu.
