It said that skid loaders, heavy equipment, and clearing personnel were deployed in Barangays Malanday, Tumana, Nangka, and Sto. Niño to quickly remove garbage, mud, and debris.
It added that cleanup operations will continue until the affected areas are fully cleared and cleaned up.
Marikina City Mayor Maan Teodoro said doctors are also making rounds at evacuation camps to provide doxycycline as protection against leptospirosis, particularly for residents who waded through floodwaters.
“Nagpabili na rin ako ng additional supplies pa para hindi tayo kulangin (I also ordered additional supplies so we won’t run short),” she added.
Teodoro, together with her husband, Rep. Marcy Teodoro, and rescue teams, personally monitored the weather conditions since Saturday, Aug. 29, to closely oversee the situation in the city and ensure the safety of residents.

Heavy rainfall on Saturday reportedly reached an average accumulated total of 136.6 millimeters from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. By 10:29 p.m., the Marikina River had reached the third alarm level after its water level rose to 18 meters, prompting the city government to implement forced evacuations, particularly in low-lying areas.
The third alarm level remained in effect until 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, with the river reaching a peak water level of 18.5 meters before gradually declining.
As of 1 p.m., the Marikina River had returned to normal, with its water level at 14.9 meters.
