Tenant arrested for P1-M jewelry theft in QC

A 34-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly stealing jewelry worth around P1.007 million from her 25-year-old landlord in Barangay South Triangle, Quezon City, on Aug. 27.
The suspect, identified as alias “Ana” of Barangay Bago Silangan, was seen by the victim inside her bedroom at around 7:30 a.m.
The victim said she had just woken up when she saw Ana, her tenant, sitting on her bed and putting on makeup.
Ana allegedly was not authorized to enter the bedroom, as her designated sleeping area was in the sala.
At around 10:20 a.m., Ana reportedly left the condominium unit.
At about 12:24 p.m., after taking a bath, the victim checked her pink sling bag and discovered that three pouches containing several pieces of gold and white-gold jewelry were missing.
The missing jewelry was valued at approximately P1.007 million.
The victim also noticed that a Buddha pendant worth P250,000 remained in the bag, but its white-gold necklace was missing.
She then checked Ana’s sleeping area in the sala and allegedly found two bracelet chains inside a small transparent zip-lock bag, along with the key to her bedroom.
The victim immediately alerted the condominium security personnel.
At around 8:10 p.m., a security guard called the victim and informed her that Ana had returned to the building lobby.
The victim then contacted Kamuning Police Station (PS 10), whose responding officers proceeded to the area and arrested Ana.
Police recovered the two bracelet chains, the condominium bedroom key, and the Buddha pendant from Ana, while several pieces of jewelry remained missing.
Police also learned that Ana had a previous case involving identity theft and forgery filed on Jan. 5, 2026.
A theft complaint was subsequently filed against Ana before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
