Several Malabon roads impassable as floodwaters rise

Several roads in Malabon City remained impassable on Saturday evening, Aug. 29, as continuous rains brought by the southwest monsoon caused floodwaters to rise.

At 7 p.m., the Malabon Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) reported thigh‑deep waters along M.H. Del Pilar in Maysilo, rising to about 37 inches.

Sitio 6 in Catmon, Dr. Lascano in Tugatog, and the Central Market area in Tañong were also not passable to all types of vehicles, with floodwaters reaching around 26 inches.

Several other roads were closed to light vehicles due to floodwaters ranging from 10 to 19 inches.

These included Maria Clara in Acacia; Burgos and Sto. Niño in Concepcion; Don Basilio in Hulong Duhat; Pampano in Longos; Sto. Niño in Muzon; Silver Swan in Panghulo; Rizal Avenue-Magsaysay in San Agustin; Tatawid Market in Santulan; M.H. Del Pilar in Tugatog and Tinajeros; Gov. Pascual near Robinsons in Tinajeros; and P. Aquino and Sanciangco in Tonsuya.

Meanwhile, several roads remained passable to all vehicles despite varying flood levels, including portions of Gen. Luna, Gov. Pascual, M. Sioson, Naval, C. Arellano, Borromeo, Yanga, University Avenue, and other streets in Baritan, Bayan‑Bayanan, Dampalit, Flores, Hulong Duhat, Ibaba, Longos, Maysilo, Potrero, San Agustin, and Santulan.

The local government advised motorists to avoid flooded and impassable areas and to continue monitoring official advisories.
