Nine roads remain impassable in Mangatarem amid flooding

MANGATAREM, Pangasinan — Nine roads in this municipality remained impassable to all types of vehicles as of 10 a.m. Saturday, August 29, as flooding continued to affect several areas.

The latest road and flooding situation report was based on monitoring conducted by Municipal Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) and personnel of the Mangatarem Municipal Police Station under the leadership of PMAJ Arturo C. Melchor Jr., chief of police.

Among the roads reported to be impassable were Bogtong Silag (Sitio Dor. Vergara); Pogon-Aniat going to Dorogan Sawat; Bunlalacao (Sitio Dor. Bunlalacao); Dorongan Punta (Sitio Papalyasen); and Pampano (Mamparan).

Also affected were the routes from Talogtog going to Cabaruan, Suaco, Sapang, and Tococ Barikir; Bogtong Bolo going to Sapang, Suaco, and Cabaruan; Lawak-Langka River to Sitio Ballasiw; Salavante going to Dorongan Sawat; and Dorongan Valerio going to Sitio Dorongan Vergara.

Meanwhile, Bogtong Centro (Highway) was reported passable during the same monitoring period, although motorists were advised to remain cautious due to the prevailing weather conditions and possible changes in road and water conditions.

Melchor and his personnel continue to monitor affected roads and water levels in different areas of Mangatarem.

Authorities appealed to motorists and residents to avoid flooded and impassable routes.

Instead follow local safety advisories, and prioritize their safety amid the continuing threat of flooding.
