Muntinlupa orders operators to take down billboards

The Muntinlupa City government ordered the removal of billboards due to heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon.
The city’s building office issued the directive on Aug. 29 after motorists posted videos showing tarpaulins from billboards becoming loose along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX).
Metro Manila has been placed under a red rainfall warning.
“Accordingly, all advertising materials/commercial billboards must be automatically taken down by billboard operators after the release of a Typhoon Signal No. 1 bulletin or any other significant weather disturbance by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA),” City Building Official Dynadella Aranda said in the order.
Billboard operators are also required to report to the Office of the Building Official when cracks or spalling are visible in the structures.
