Reintegration program continues for Manila shelter kids

The Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) on Thursday, Aug. 27, continued its “Kaagapay Mo sa Buhay” reintegration program, assisting children from the Reception Action Center (RAC) and the Manila Boystown Complex in reuniting with their families and communities.
Under the program, District Welfare Offices will provide assistance and conduct follow‑up monitoring as children return to family care.
The effort aims to support their transition and help them rebuild their lives.
The program also includes livelihood aid to strengthen families during reintegration and improve living conditions.
The “Kaagapay Mo sa Buhay” program is a weekly event organized by the city’s social welfare department for children apprehended for curfew violations.
According to MDSW, children will remain under the custody of RAC for a week after being taken in.
Those who remain unclaimed by a parent or guardian after the one‑week period will be transferred to the Manila Boystown Complex in Marikina.
Authorities will then conduct profile verification for children who remain in temporary care to trace their families or guardians. (Shane Quiachon)
