BACOLOD CITY - The Land Transportation Office–Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR), served a Show Cause Order (SCO) on a tricycle driver, who was alleged to have been involved in the assault of a 48-year-old traffic enforcer in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

A recent video showing a tricycle driver allegedly punching a local traffic enforcer following a confrontation reportedly related to roadside parking, went viral and reached the LTO-NIR, leading to an investigation.

The enforcer had reportedly told the tricycle driver that it was prohibited to park in the area, but the latter allegedly got irked, leading to a commotion.

The LTO-NIR Intelligence and Investigation Unit (IIU), with the assistance of LTO Himamaylan personnel, served the SCO at the Barangay 3 People’s Hall in Himamaylan City.

LTO-NIR director Jeck Conlu reminded motorists and transport operators that compliance with traffic regulations and respect for traffic enforcers were essential in maintaining safe, orderly, and disciplined roads.

This is part of the agency’s continuing commitment to uphold road safety, ensure accountability, and enforce existing traffic rules and regulations.
