Kim Soo-hyun to make first public appearance in Korea since hiatus
Kim Soo-hyun is set to make his first public appearance in South Korea since stepping away from the spotlight, returning as a presenter at the 2026 The Fact Music Awards (TMA).
The TMA organizing committee announced Aug. 28 that Kim will attend the awards ceremony at Busan Asiad Main Stadium on Sept. 19.
“Kim Soo-hyun will attend the 2026 The Fact Music Awards, which will be held at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium on September 19, as a presenter,” the committee said.
The appearance marks another step in Kim’s return to show business after more than a year away from the public eye.
He resumed activities in July, including a photoshoot for a Philippine clothing brand.
Meanwhile, Kim has also scored a legal win involving one of his former advertising partners.
The Seoul Eastern District Court dismissed a lawsuit filed by a watch brand seeking 570 million won (about $414,000) from Kim over an advertising contract.
The brand signed Kim as an advertising model in 2020 and renewed the contract annually.
The contract was later terminated following the controversy surrounding Kim, prompting the brand to seek the return of the portion of the payment corresponding to the remaining contract period.
The court dismissed the claim, ruling that the grounds cited for terminating the contract did not exist.
Kim remains involved in other legal disputes with brands.
The actor is known for dramas including “Queen of Tears,” “Moon Embracing the Sun,” “Dream High” and “My Love from the Star.”
